David Felix Sutcliffe is a Sundance and Emmy Award-winning producer dedicated to stories that unsettle and insist. His films have been distributed by Netflix, Hulu, POV, BBC, and CANAL+ and featured in The New York Times Magazine, the Guardian, CNN, This American Life and Democracy Now. His work has screened at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca and CPH:DOX, and received funding support from the Sundance Documentary Fund, Ford Foundation, and BBC Storyville, among others.
David’s feature debut, (T)ERROR (co-directed with Lyric R. Cabral), exposed FBI entrapment tactics and won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance, the Grand Jury Prize at Full Frame, and an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Documentary. Named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film,” he is an Independent Spirit Award nominee and recipient of the International Documentary Association’s Emerging Filmmaker Award.
Recent credits include Débora Souza Silva’s FOR OUR CHILDREN, now streaming on Netflix, and Contessa Gayles’ forthcoming SONGS FROM THE HOLE, winner of Audience Awards for Best Documentary at SXSW, New Orleans Film Fest, Buffalo Int’l Film Fest and the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at Blackstar, Indie Street Film Fest, Fist Up Film Fest, and Sing Sing Film Festival.

David grew up in a mixed-race, working-class family in upstate New York. An alum of the Anne Braden Anti-Racist Training for White Organizers, he is dedicated to redistributing narrative capital and dreaming towards post-capitalism. He is a new father and loves to dance.
